Or in French, Le Sigh.
Today is a bittersweet day. I have created this blog so that all my dear friends in Michigan can still be connected to me as I move to Florida. I thought that I would be excited to escape the bitter cold Michigan winters for the tropical warmth of Florida. But, if I'm really honest with myself, I like snow. No matter how old I get, I shall always enjoy building snowmen (and women) and making snow angels and having snowball fights. I'm going to miss snow. I'm going to miss a lot of things about Michigan: the seasons, my friends, even my job.
Today is my last day of work, which is really sad since I love my job. My co-workers are the best! Every day, before I leave, Kris says "Amy, thank you for all your hard work! We really love having you here." EVERY DAY!!! I'm going to miss that. I'll miss the girls' lunches that we have, sitting in a back room talking about anything and everything. I'll miss sitting at my desk, laughing with the college students I help, the students that I mentor and the ones who are just there because I am. I'll miss my co-workers, my supervisor, the division chair. I'll just miss everyone.
But I'm also excited. I get to finally see my husband, after three weeks!!!! And, I'M MOVING TO FLORIDA!! I'll have a swimming pool, and it's warm and pretty and I can swim in the ocean if I want, which I don't really want to since I'm not much of a fish fan, but I still have the option and options are really, really nice, as is this insanely long sentence because insanely long sentences, though grammatically incorrect, are really fun to write and I'm trying to beat Sir Walter Scott's 63 word sentence from his book Ivanhoe, which is a very good book albeit somewhat long winded, like me! Yeah. I think that sentence just beat my last record.
So here is to last days and new beginnings. Here is to old friends and ones not yet discovered, to memories, hopes, fears and the future. Here is to starting on an amazing adventure!
