Summer

Ah, the beauty of approaching summer.Today is the second to last day, and then no more students. I probably shouldn't be so excited about summer break, as I have to work all summer at the school. I think I'm excited because this summer, I can actually organize my desk and get prepared for next year. The worst thing about starting a job in the middle is having no idea how to begin. Everything that I would have done to prepare for the school year I couldn't do, I had to go with the flow that had already been created. Unfortunately, the created flow was really, really screwed up. But now I can create my own flow, my own organization and make it my own. And I can take the summer to prepare it all. I guess that's why I'm excited for summer.

Or maybe it's because I'll not be working with children all summer. I've done my share of babysitting, and in general enjoy being around children, but there's something about having 20 some odd kids all yelling for my attention that just makes me say "this is not what I want to do for very long." I mean, they're in 2nd grade, and some can't tie their own shoes and others, no matter how many times I show them and make them, cannot, to save their little lives, type in www.disney.com. Now this doesn't mean that I won't miss the little buggers, but I definitely need a break.

I will miss not being able to walk down the hall without at least three children stopping me to give me hugs, show me their science project or just say hi. I will miss that. And I will miss students bringing left over cupcakes or other snacks to my office thus ruining my diet yet again... But I will also enjoy a summer partially off. And maybe I can go to the beach or do some other summery things...

Ah, the joys of approaching summer!
